Double Quartet is a short, fast, and energetic piece for saxophone octet, divided into two saxophone quartets. I imagine these two quartets as two separate entities engaging in a dialogue, with the first quartet presenting an idea and the second quartet responding to it. As the piece progresses, their dialogue exchanges more frequently and they ultimately come to a common conclusion at the end.
