I was recently blessed with the gift of an adorable daughter, who has kept me very much occupied in the past 10 months. Besides the daily routine of meeting her necessities, I often like to sing to expose her to music, or just to simply capture her attention before she throws a tantrum. She would sometimes stop whatever she is doing and listen attentively to me when I sing Hindustani songs, which I have been learning. I thought it would be fun to compile some of these ragas I have been studying and recontextualize them into a piece for percussion quartet, with some influences from Indian classical music.
